About Nerdcraft

Nerdcraft was founded on March 11, 2022 by Server Owners BasicBadWitch and Donhop and many friends, who all would lovingly call each other Nerd for every greeting, so naming the community Nerdcraft seemed logical, if not glaringly obvious.

Nerdcraft started with a three week pre-season period, before official data packs, server hosts, and players were finalized. This was known as “Season Zero”. Season Zero was mostly griefing shenanigans, as we knew it was just a trial era for testing out hosting services. This was probably the origination of the pranking shenanigans that consistently has occurred since.

In April of 2022, Nerdcraft Season 1 officially launched and ran for three months as a regular roster was sorted out. The server owners still weren’t sure if they were going to commit full time, so the first season was short - only 3 months long. Seasonal events like the first annual easter egg hunt occurred in season 1.

Season 2, which started in June of 2022, with the release of version 1.19, was the first season where the server owners migrated to a “democracy” style management, where players vote on data packs to be installed, updated policies, and any configuration changes. The first community vote was for the length of the season, which was voted to be 6 months, as a longer season was desired. Seasonal events occured, like the first annual Winter Land event, which was established as the season’s finale event.

However, on January 2, 2023, with the launch of Season 3, the Nerds voted to stay on version 1.19, and run the season for an entire year. Over the course of that year, Nerdcraft established both Monthly and Weekly events. It saw the return of the annual easter egg hunt and Winter Land, and saw the arrival of new events like June Moon, Return to Class: CASS (Custom Armor Stand Classes), and Fireworks in both July and December. During Season 3, the Nerds discovered a new obsession: Minigames. Eight unique minigame events occured in Season 3, quadrupling that of Season 2.

We now are entering Season Four in late December of 2023, and wonder if you can be a Nerd, too?

  • Prison Escape (Season 3)

Prision Escape was a floating minigame in Season 3 where a guard would hide an Elytra in the prision, and attempt to prevent the prisioner from finding it and safely escaping to the ground. This minigame was a work in progress and needs many improvements (according to the creator).

  • Original Minigames

Many of the minigames you'll find on the Nerdcraft server are original builds, like Prision Escape, LOCKDOWN, and Capture the Flag.

  • Classic Minigame Remakes

Along with original minigames, Nerdcraft features several remakes of classic Minecraft games. So go STRESS OUT in Hotel California or bet your diamonds in Stat Poker... and how many Nerds does it take to achieve what one Tango achieves? Find out in Season 4.

  • Winter Town

Winter Town, featured annually in every season, features decorations from any winter holidays celebrated by Nerds. Each Winter Town features winter decorations, a huge Christmas tree, and gifts for all. This annual celebration also signifies the end of the season, as everyone prepares for the new year and season reset.

  • Nerdcenter

Every season features the Nerdcenter, combination server spawn location and mailboxes commonly filled with random goodies. Maps of all the major locations, like Nerds' bases, are available to browse.

  • Community Builds

Monthly events sometimes include community builds, or Nerd Lore ends up creating community builds. Like the Shrek Shack in Season 3, which belonged to a green sheep saved by Kam from certain death by Heth's Axe. Shrek, the sheep, became the emotional support sheep for the season, gathering friends like Donkey, Pinochio, and Puss's Boots.
